Early on in the course of life it becomes painfully obvious that life's not fair. One person listens intently in class and puts in long study hours at home to manage a C grade, while another puts in little effort and breezes by with an A+. It doesn't seem fair and it doesn't seem right. It doesn't feel like there is a Balance of Power.

Instead of recognizing our own areas of strength, we focus on the imbalance of power; we become resentful, jealous, and angry. Some begin developing battle plans to balance that power by forming groups or by bullying others to conform to a particular way of thinking. Others retreat to negative activities such as belittling themselves, smoking, using drugs and alcohol to cope with their perceived inadequacies, or blaming others for the inequities they are experiencing.

Balance of Power will expose this simple, yet seemingly unfair, fact: life isn't fair. Life has dealt everyone a different set of cards. It's what we do with those cards that makes the difference.

Balance of Power is a 40-minute multi-media experience that will encourage students to stop blaming and accusing others in an effort to level the playing field. Your students will begin taking responsibility for their choices; they will see the value of the challenges they face each day. Balance of Power will motivate students to reach for their dreams, while, along the way, helping those around them to do the same.
